All models share the same core: Google’s Android XR platform, Gemini Live as the AI agent, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip. Battery life reaches up to nine hours per charge, backed by a case that adds seven more full top-ups. In short, this is Samsung saying that the next big computing device might look like the glasses you already wear. If the frames are about fashion, the software is about Google AR integration and Gemini as your constant companion. These wearable AI glasses run on Android XR and tie into Gemini Live, with computing split between the Snapdragon AR1 inside and your phone. That makes them less a phone replacement and more a quiet co-pilot that helps you use your phone less while still getting the benefit of smart features.
This deep tie into Google’s ecosystem is where they outmuscle most rivals. The glasses are built to slot into Google Maps, Calendar, live translation and Workspace tools, bringing instant navigation prompts, event creation and on-the-go productivity into your line of hearing, if not yet your line of sight. The Snapdragon AR1 and split computing with a paired phone keep power use in check while Knox Vault from the phone locks down captured media. One of the most quotable claims from Samsung’s teams is that “50 engineers from Samsung, Qualcomm and Google worked together to optimise the battery chemical mix for the eyewear.” Add in LEDs that enforce bystander privacy by disabling the camera when blocked or unworn, and you get a product that tries to earn trust before it chases spectacle.
The AR future: this first-gen is a bridge, not the destination
Make no mistake: these Samsung smart glasses are a transitional product.
