From Data Dumps to Interpreted Health Insights
Samsung Health’s AI overhaul is a major redesign of the Galaxy Watch companion app that shifts from presenting raw biometric numbers to explaining what those numbers mean for daily health decisions. Instead of scrolling through heart-rate charts and sleep graphs without context, users now see AI-driven summaries that interpret trends, highlight concerns, and suggest next steps across sleep, activity, nutrition, mindfulness, and vitals. The update, rolling out from June 8, reorganizes the app around these five pillars and adds an AI-powered Energy Score on the home screen to tie them together. Samsung’s goal is to make health tracking feel less like a spreadsheet and more like a conversation about your wellbeing. By combining data from the watch and phone with new analysis tools, Samsung Health starts to behave more like an AI health tracking app and less like a simple metrics logger.

Four New AI Metrics: Vitals, Heart Health Score, Cardio Load, Fitness Index
At the core of the redesign are four new Samsung Health AI features that reshape Galaxy Watch health metrics. Vitals analyzes five overnight biosignals—heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen—against a resting baseline and only alerts you when it detects a “meaningful deviation,” reducing alert fatigue. Heart Health Score replaces Vascular Load with a single daily number based on sleep quality, stress, activity, and body composition, designed to show how your habits affect long-term cardiovascular wellness. Daily Cardio Load measures accumulated cardiovascular strain by calculating daily load and maximum training capacity, then recommending when to push and when to rest. Finally, Fitness Index benchmarks VO2 max, daily steps, and heart rate against peers, highlighting strengths and weaknesses while suggesting targeted goals so you can tell if your exercise routine is delivering results.

Galaxy Watch Becomes a Real-Time Health Coach
The update turns the Galaxy Watch into more than a passive sensor hub by feeding continuous data into Samsung Health’s new AI models. Overnight, Vitals runs in the background and issues a morning summary that can flag possible illness or recovery needs. During the day, Daily Cardio Load tracks workout intensity and cumulative stress so your watch can suggest optimal training targets and rest windows, aiming to prevent burnout and injury. Heart Health Score gives a daily snapshot that ties together sleep, stress, and activity, helping users see how small choices add up for their heart. Fitness Index, meanwhile, uses VO2 max and step counts to compare your fitness level with similar users and recommend specific improvement paths. Together, these tools shift the smartwatch health redesign toward proactive coaching, with the watch and phone acting as a single AI health tracking app instead of separate widgets.

Redesigned App Layout and Expanded Monitoring
Samsung has reorganized Samsung Health into five clear sections—Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Mindfulness, and Vitals—to make complex health data easier to find and interpret. The home screen now focuses on an AI-based Energy Score and concise wellness tips instead of dense dashboards. Vitals gets its own dedicated view so users can review overnight patterns over time. Beyond the headline AI features, Samsung has also refined nutrition and long-term health tracking, improving the Antioxidant Index with history logs and trend charts and updating the AGEs Index to automatically capture overnight measurements. Hearing Health joins the app as well, tracking audio exposure—including from Galaxy Watches—and alerting users when sound levels may be harmful. Together with the new Heart Health Score and Daily Cardio Load, these additions broaden Samsung’s digital healthcare offerings from heart and fitness monitoring into a fuller picture of lifestyle, recovery, and long-term risk.
