This change folds what used to be core Google One benefits into the AI-focused tier, turning AI Plus into a more complete account upgrade. At the same time, Google One Premium is being renamed to Google AI Plus, giving Google a single, clearer label for its mainstream AI-and-storage bundle. Existing Google One Premium subscribers are moved to the new branding, and some retain “grandfathered” perks such as 2TB of storage, which makes sticking with the legacy plan attractive if you already pay for it and need more than 400GB.

Google is changing how it meters activity across Gemini and related products by rolling out a compute-based usage model instead of a fixed-request limit. Light to moderate users will likely find AI Plus sufficient, while heavy daily users, video watchers, or professionals who rely on advanced models may benefit more from upgrading to AI Pro or AI Ultra.
