To make Mythos-level capabilities safe enough for public exposure, Anthropic wraps Fable 5 in strict domain guards. The company says Fable 5 is geared toward cybersecurity and biology but includes safety classifiers that detect when a request enters high-risk territory such as offensive security, biology, chemistry, or model distillation. When those triggers fire, Fable 5 automatically hands off the query to Claude Opus 4.8, a cheaper and more limited model, and clearly informs the user. Anthropic reports that more than 95% of Fable 5 sessions do not hit these switches, so most everyday programming, writing, and analysis stays on Fable 5 itself.
