Inside the New AI Lens Studio Features
The centerpiece of Snap Specs developer tools is the new agentic development inside Lens Studio, designed to help build AR experiences with far less manual coding. These AI Lens Studio features are delivered in a developer preview that runs through Claude Code integration, Codex, and Cursor, giving developers code-aware assistants inside the creation environment. Instead of writing every script or interaction from scratch, creators can describe behaviors and let AI propose code, refine logic, and run tests on Lenses targeted for AR glasses creation. For newcomers, AI hints and code generation help them learn by doing rather than reading extensive documentation first. Specs’ hardware features are tightly linked to Snap’s AI Lens Studio features, reinforcing the idea of Specs as an AR platform. The glasses use liquid crystal on silicon display technology with a 51-degree field of view and support for 16 million colours, backed by a redesigned waveguide system for reduced distortion and clearer images. Electrochromic lenses can shift from clear to tinted in about 10 seconds, making the device feel more like everyday eyewear than a bulky headset. On top of that, Specs ship with navigation, spatial measurements, AI-powered assistance, streaming, casting, digital whiteboards, and developer-built Lenses. According to Snap Inc., “SPECS are not designed to replace the world. They’re designed to bring computing into it.” Pairing these capabilities with agentic developer tools positions Specs as an always-available AR canvas, not a single-purpose consumer gadget.
