UiPath Brings On-Premises Agentic AI to Regulated Enterprises

Agentic AI Moves from Experiments to Enterprise Reality

Agentic AI is rapidly shifting from pilot projects to wide-scale enterprise automation deployment. UiPath, known for agentic business orchestration, is now making these capabilities available through its Automation Suite in both cloud-hosted and self-hosted configurations. The company highlights that a significant share of organizations have already adopted agentic AI, with nearly half planning to embrace it in the near term. This momentum signals that enterprises see value in AI agents that can understand context, orchestrate workflows, and execute tasks end to end. Yet many organizations have been constrained by deployment models that assume everything must run in the cloud. UiPath’s latest move addresses this gap, opening the door for customers that need strict control over where AI services run and how data is handled, without giving up advanced automation features.

Why On-Premises Agentic AI Matters for Regulated Industries

Highly regulated industries such as banking, financial services, public sector institutions, insurance providers, and healthcare organizations operate under stringent security, compliance, and data residency mandates. For many of these enterprises, cloud-only AI services have been a non-starter because sensitive workloads and customer data must remain under direct control. UiPath’s on-premises agentic AI deployment specifically targets this challenge by allowing organizations to run the Automation Suite within their own infrastructure. This approach enables regulated industry compliance while still offering enterprise-grade automation. Instead of choosing between innovation and data sovereignty, enterprises can now align AI-powered automation with internal policies and external regulations. The result is fewer barriers to adopting agentic AI for mission-critical processes, from customer onboarding and case management to claims handling and public service delivery, where every action must be auditable and secure.

Two Deployment Modes: Cloud Models and Self-Hosted Models

UiPath Automation Suite now supports two primary modes for on-premises agentic AI. In the Automation Suite with Cloud Models mode, customers deploy orchestration locally while connecting to cloud-hosted large-language models such as OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude, or Google Gemini. This configuration unlocks the broadest feature set, including DeepRAG, Advanced Extraction, Autopilot for Developers, Autopilot for Everyone, and ScreenPlay. For organizations that cannot rely on external LLM providers, the Automation Suite with Self-Hosted Models mode allows open-source models to run fully inside the enterprise data center. While this self-hosted path focuses on core capabilities like UiPath Maestro, Agent Builder, Context Grounding, and GenAI Activities, it keeps all data and inference on premises. Together, these options give enterprises a spectrum of control and capability tailored to their risk tolerance and infrastructure strategy.

Hybrid Architectures Bridge Cloud Innovation and Local Control

Beyond pure on-premises agentic AI, UiPath is enabling hybrid deployment patterns that blend local orchestration with cloud-based inference. In this setup, Automation Suite runs within the customer’s infrastructure, but large-language model requests are routed to a preferred cloud provider under existing subscriptions. This model is particularly attractive for organizations operating under data residency rules that permit outbound inference but disallow cloud-based orchestration. It allows them to benefit from continually improving cloud LLMs while maintaining tight control over automation workloads, logs, and integrations in their own environment. Hybrid architectures can also ease migration for enterprises that are progressively modernizing legacy systems. By decoupling orchestration from inference, UiPath positions its platform as a flexible backbone for agentic AI that can adapt as regulations evolve, models improve, and organizations refine their long-term AI strategies.

From Compliance Constraint to Competitive Advantage

UiPath frames its Automation Suite enhancements as a way to remove the perceived trade-off between compliance and innovation. With most agentic automation features now available on the platform and additional capabilities like Conversational Agent and IXP slated for future release, regulated enterprises can plan multi-year automation roadmaps without waiting for policy shifts or special exemptions. On-premises agentic AI gives them the confidence to scale from pilot use cases to enterprise-wide programs while satisfying domestic data residency rules and internal governance requirements. For sectors where compliance has often capped ambition, this shift turns regulatory obligations into a design constraint rather than a blocker. Organizations that move quickly may gain a competitive edge by using agentic AI to streamline operations, enhance customer experiences, and unlock new efficiencies, all within a framework that meets their strictest oversight standards.
